Nothing Gold Can Stay

Despite the brutal winter, it appears that resilient Spring will not let us down. Driving today, I saw the first buds on trees — a golden hue that always reminds me of Robert Frost’s poem.

NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
