Most mornings, I look outside and hope that the newspaper is on my front porch. Other mornings, things are a little more interesting.

    1. He really was waiting for breakfast. I had bird feeders at the time and a rat had discovered it. A very brazen Norway rat (I looked it up; I’m not that smart). The rat had a tunnel in the snow and would just pop out during the day for a snack.
      I don’t know how this story played out but I was rooting for the hawk.
      Then another rat got into my house, so I took down the feeders and called the exterminators. Ah, nature…
